Please note (we are repeating a statement made at the end of this webpage, especially for the S&N Lawyers:) No two products are alike, especially bamboo blinds, we have compared the closest blind style available in the collections, we strongly urge you to make the comparison yourself in quality and pricing. We update the comparison pricing once every 6 months, so our current comparison pricing may not be accurate in the last microsecond ....:) Our competitors web address are listed below, go to their website and compare the pricing yourself, don't take our word for it! They are very paranoid so please free to indulge them.....heh!
In a nutshell,
The blinds from Thailand ARE the best quality blinds we have seen
to date (all 354 styles!).
Bamboo blinds design, construction and material selection is based on
culture and experience. Next to the Japanese hand made blinds we have yet
to see a better quality and priced blind in the market. The cost of the
blind is so low that it rivals the cost of prefabricated machine made
blinds.

shipped directly to you.

(O.K what do we mean by cost? actual blind cost + Credit Card charges
+$10.00 per blind, that's it!)
So what is the downside?
Shipping cost. The blinds are shipped from Thailand, shipping cost can
equal the cost of the blinds itself. We will provide you with the maximum
cost of the shipping on our quote. When the item lands in the U.S, we will
then inform you of the actual shipping cost and charge the shipping cost
to your account.
Even with the higher shipping cost, the Thailand blind has been our most requested product!. We only allow 500 blinds per month to be made from this manufacturer. (Its a cottage industry, we cannot maintain quality when the volumes get too large). Generally by the middle of the month, the quota for the month is full.
It the last 8000 orders (40,000 blinds), we have yet to have more than 2 orders returned with defects. A true testament to culture and 120 generation years of experience. (that's why we have their blinds in our own home as well!)

A Irritating development:
Well! Smith and Nobles Lawyers are trying to sue us yet again! Never ending saga, each time they drop their pricing they turn around and threatening to sue for not reflecting their new pricing. So today, (Aug 4th 2002) they send us these letters (Letter1 and Letter2) on their intent to take us to court. Its a pity they are unable to handle this in a civilized manner with a simple and courteous call.
Yup! Its a sad state of affairs, it would seem that's what life's is all about these days, instead of talking, we sue each other to death. (Kudo's to Home Depot and Lowes, they called us and informed us of their price changes and we promptly made the appropriate price comparisons)
How we evaluated our market competitors
Great care and accuracy has been taken to obtain the correct pricing comparisons from our competitors. Prices were obtained by going directly to their websites or calling the individual stores. Since there were very few merchants selling bamboo curtains domestically in the U.S, this was relatively easy!! We have compared the closest and sometimes equal product that is available in the US market to our product.
All phones quotes was logged and recorded. If you find one of these prices incorrect, please ASAP. The Callaloo Company will not be held responsible for errors made by the merchants or for pricing fluctuations that is beyond our control. (07/2/2002)
