Once in a while.............
We come across a very unique product that really impresses us. This particular line from India is probably the oldest traditional cultural blinds that we have found in our 11 years of bamboo blinds retail.
The tradition of making these blinds has been handed down father to son (male offsprings only) for over 1200 years. All these blinds are hand made individually and it was fascinating to watch the artisan cut each slat by hand with a machete!!. We have yet to see a similar blinds in any part of the world.
This is a very small cottage industry, and we would like to grow this culturally rich blinds. We therefore purposefully for the next 500 blinds will only add a 10% margin over total cost as a handling fee to improve the volume and and direct more sales toward these vendors. We have no wish to see this artform disappear.

Since these blinds are very cultural, they have some idiosyncrasies. All of these blinds do not have valances or cord locks. They only come in rollup style and come with a center pulley mechanism. (center pulley mechanism is the oldest raising mechanism in bamboo blinds). All blinds come with complete mounting hardware and a solid whole bamboo headrail on the top and bottom of each blind.  No liners are available ( with 600 years of experience, who are we to ask them to change their ways!!) 
All the blinds can be used for the inside OR outside the house. Yup!! they can be exposed to the elements for verandah's, porches etc.....
