Some advice that we
have learnt from problems encountered with our customers.
Like all things, not all orders
go smoothly, there have been some problems, we prefer to bring them out in
the open so that you are aware of the some of the issues. (try finding this page on any commercial website!,
which company would like to admit it problem orders!, but I think its would
be irresponsible to not let you know the problems we have encountered with
some orders)
1) Do not make any deductions
on the width and length of your blinds.
For inside mounts, the factory will make the necessary deductions. If you
make the deductions as well, the blinds will be short. Follow the measuring instruction carefully and to
the letter.
2) Do not depend on the pictures
on the web pages to choose a blind by color.
All computer monitor show colors differently. Choosing a blind by color from
the web is like playing roulette. The color you see on the monitor may
NOT be the actual color. PLEASE REQUEST A SAMPLE. We will gladly
send you samples. We cannot refund a blind once it has been custom ordered.
In addition, the shades are made from natural material and dye lots will
vary. A samples will give you a good idea of the color, but keep in
mind sample may differ from your shades.
3) Do
not get mad if the blind does not arrive on time
We purchase blinds from numerous manufacturers. Unfortunately that means
when the manufacturer does not deliver the product on time, you do not get
your product on time. There is
almost nothing we can do about this. We generally have a
good idea (95% of the time) of the delivery
schedule but sometimes there are hiccups. In general, the summer months are the worst
backorders and delays.
Once we find out about the delay,
We generally hound the manufacturer until they ship the blind. Usually the
problem is that either they forgot the order (disappears into a black hole)
or a backorder develops.
If the manufacturer informs us of the problem (rare), we
will inform you immediately and begin hounding them!
Please do not chew our customer service representatives heads off, they cannot control this problem.
3) Not
exactly what you ordered or missing items
Most manufacturers are good about fixing
these problems. The turnaround is generally 1-2 weeks. But please again do
not get mad, We realize you would be disappointed but just a tad bit of
patience and we can can get there amicably. When a manufacturer makes more
than 4000 blinds a month, some problems do occur.
4) Prefabricated blinds
Oversized Reed and Vinyl
These blinds are made in old roman style, they have no valance. All the
lifting mechanism and cords will be at the back of the blinds, not the
front. You will not see the pull cords, pulleys or cords locks from the
front. Therefore a valance will not be required.
Reed blinds tend
to "grow" in length over time. This is because the material will
stretch with heat. This is normal.
Pull cords are usually longer than required. This proper adjustment of
length will depend on your operating height. Remove the knot holding the
pull knobs, cut the excess cord and retie the knot below the pull knobs.
Vinyl
Blinds
These blinds can
get bruised during shipping. This is expected, when the blinds are hung,
the bruise can be removed by pinching the slats into shape (by hand) or the
heat will expand the slats to self repair the bruised slats.
Bamboo
Blinds
No bamboo
natural, deluxe or tortoise blinds should be used on an outside installation
without weatherproofing. Fungus and molds looooove untreated bamboo blinds.
Only Red Bhutan and Aeroshade blinds can be used outside without treatment.
If the blinds get
wet. Unroll the blinds and dry them out in the sun. In winter, take them
down and store them in a dry warm place. Be warned: Wet blinds will
grow mildew and fungus if not properly taken care off.
